Frequently Asked Question

Can I add a custom domain to my website?
Last Updated 3 years ago

You can easily add a custom domain to your website after it's set up. You will need to prepare your DNS records first, and take note of whether you are using our emailing system or if you are using a 3rd-party service.

In the side menu go to Website Settings > Website Settings.

To qualify for a free wildcard SSL on your domain (and use our email service), you will need to update your domain nameservers to the following:

  • ns1.stackdns.com
  • ns2.stackdns.com
  • ns3.stackdns.com
  • ns4.stackdns.com

If you just need to point the domain but keep your own nameservers, you can just update the A Record to the IP address given in your Website Settings pages.

Once you have added your domain, you will need to tick the "Update DNS with Website Address?" and save the settings to apply the domain to your account.

PLEASE NOTE:

Before making any changes, please ensure that you have told us your MX records, or email provider if you use a 3rd-party service (eg: Office365, GSuite etc.), so we can prepare your account for the nameserver change and avoid any disruption to your emails.

You can also purchase a stronger SSL if you want more security for an eCommerce site, for example, or if you don't want to move your DNS to us. If you want to see the differences between the SSL certificates we offer, you can view the FAQ here: SSL Certificate Differences FAQ.
