Using the Page Editor (New Page/ Edit Page) (update images)

Edit pages

Within the edit pages tab, you will not only be able to add content to the majority of your website, but you will also be able to do a few other things too.

Page Lock:

Use this to lock the page to specific accounts or account types. This ensures that only certain colleagues can edit the page.

Page Options:

The Page Options section will allow you to edit your page as you see fit.
  • You can choose to add your page to a menu category, for example, adding your new page to the About Us section in your menu navigation.
  • You can choose to show the menu on this page or have the menu hidden.
  • You can hide your page and also password protect your page.
  • You also have the option to change your page to be set as the homepage.
  • You will also have other options to add extra page text, duplicate the page and even test the page's responsiveness.
  • Extra Page Text:
Any extra page text that is linked to your page can be found here. If you have chosen a theme, sometimes areas of content can be edited through this section. You can also add to this section within the page options tab.

Modules:

Here you will have other specific options that you can use on your pages such as:
  • Adding your page to RSS Feed-
If you have already selected an RSS feed then your page content will automatically be added to the feed.
  • Adding a photo gallery-
If you have already created a photo gallery within the Photo Gallery module, then you can choose to add it straight to your pages.
  • Adding your blog to a page-
If you have already started your blog, you can use this function to add your blog to your chosen page.
  • Adding a banner to your page-
Again, you will have the opportunity to add a pre-made banner to your chosen page. Just note, you will have to create your banner first in the Banner Creator module.
  • Enable auto hashtags-
This will allow you to add a hashtag (#cost) that will be linked as a search term for the rest of your website; this will allow users to easily find what they’re looking for.

SEO Options:

This area allows you to add any SEO related data to your page, this includes:
  • Page title-
This is the title of the page that will be visible to your users from a search engine results page such as Google.
  • Meta Description-
This will allow you to add in some keywords and a page description that will be visible within the search engine results page under your page title.
  • SEO Robots – No Index/No Follow checkbox
By checking this box you can stop search engines from saving any links on your page.
  • Page Permalink-
You can choose what permalink you would like for your page. This will be visible within the URL when your page loads in the address bar. If you leave this blank it will autofill with your page title.
  • Social Share Image-
Here you can select an image that will be visible every time you share your page to a social media platform.
  • Meta Keywords-
Here you will be able to add some page relevant keywords that search engines will use to rank your website’s relevance to search terms.
  • Page Author-
Add a page author so that users will know who wrote the information.
  • Page Copyright-
Add in any relevant copyright, to ensure that your page is protected.
  • Sitemap Page Priority-
Add in a relevant value to the page's priority, this will be seen by search engine algorithms. The least important is 0, the most important is 1, and pages are set to 0.5 as default.
  • Site Map Page Frequency-
This will allow you to set when you would like the page to be crawled by search engines.

Publishing options:

The page publishing options will allow you to decide when you would like your page to be visible as well as other features such as:
  • Archive Page-
This will store the page in a separate area and it will not be visible on the website.
  • Save as Draft-
This will allow your page to be saved but not published to your website yet. You can then go back in at any point and edit your page. The Save as Draft button is also frequently found throughout the page editor and not just within the Publishing Options tab.
  • Save Post-dated Page-
You can use this to set a date and a time you would like the page to be posted.
  • Update and Publish Page-
This button can be found frequently throughout the page editor but you can also use this to save and update your page within the Publishing Options tab. Just note that this button will publish your page to your website, if you do not want it to be visible yet then use one of the other saving options available such as, ‘Save as Draft’.

Header image:

Just before you see the page editor itself, you will have the option to change the header image and page name. After choosing your page name, you can choose to change the header image for that page. To do this simply, upload a new image or choose from the images already uploaded. This image will then override the image that you see on the homepage or any page you choose. To do this usually, you would have to use the Theme Designer and so this is a handy shortcut that you can use to override the images to fit your pages.

Quick Upload:

On most areas of the system that involve uploading images, you will often see a blue ‘Quick Upload’ button. This button will allow you to upload images to the File Upload section without having to leave the page you’re on. On the Edit Pages section/ Page Editor, you will find this button appears a few times on the page. By clicking this button you can quickly upload images and use them on the page without having to leave the page.

Show/Hide Help:

This is a useful button that explains some of the features included within the Page Content section of the page editor. This area has little guides included helping you navigate some of the features and their corresponding icons. Press this to show the guide and press the button again to hide it.

Page Tags Guide:

If you are not too familiar with page tags or code in general, this guide can be very useful if you wish to add some page tags to your page content. Use this button to bring up a separate window that has some information regarding page tags.

View Page Links:

This button will bring up a window that can give you useful page links. If you want to add page links within your page’s content, then you can use this section to quickly get important and common links such as your Contact Page URL.

Editor Tools:

You will have extra options that you can include within your pages. The Editor Tools section offers you options such as:
  • Adding Google Maps
  • Inserting stock images
  • Adding a YouTube video
  • Adding SoundCloud
  • A Social Media feed
  • Inserting a pre-created banner
  • Adding a pre-created web form
  • Inserting a page template
  • Inserting a Link
  • Viewing the page tags guide

Page Content:

This is the area that you will be able to add all of your page content. You will have access to some editing options that are very similar to Microsoft Word. All the options that you will need are here for you to choose from. Add links, change your headings into H1, H2, H3 tags, change the font colour, and add images and templates or even access the source code and change the layout through HTML and CSS. Everything is there!
